Magic Isn’t Real: My Face Is Still On The Fritz

I have used all of my magical expensive fancy potions and masks from the mystical land of Sephora.
My face is still on the fritz. Maybe April is the month my skin has decided to throw its middle finger up at me just to show me love don’t live here anymore.

Tonight, I made the decision to get back to my roots in skincare. I made a homemade mask from a few of my favorite easily found in my kitchen/bathroom ingredients! Loads of pictures up next…

3 Tablespoons of fresh squeezed lime juice
1 Heaping Tablespoon of Moroccan Red Clay
1/2 Teaspoon of Castor Oil
1/4 Teaspoon of Turmeric
About 3 good shakes of Tea Tree Oil
Mix them all together with a Tutti Frutti Spoon
Please note this will not work unless you use a Tutti Frutti spoon!!
Mix until the texture is completely smooth and no lumps.
Then smear it all over your face and neck.

So, what does all this stuff do to make my skin not act like it hates me you ask?

The lime juice is great for oil control and has astringent properties. Moroccan Red Clay is excellent for tightening the skin, oil control and has major detoxing properties. I purchased mine months ago at Vitamin Shoppe. Castor Oil is moisturizing but not super heavy when mixed in with these other ingredients. Turmeric is a popular natural Ayurvedic home remedy for acne. It helps with brightening and soothing acne prone skin. Turmeric is an excellent ingredient to lighten acne scars (I have a ton of those). Tea Tree Oil is a miracle oil that I cannot live without from Australia. It has astringent properties, soothing, cooling and anti acne goodness squeezed into a tiny little bottle for like $12 at the health food store.

As seen below, the mask is completely dry and ready to be washed off. The areas where the mask is light in color are the “parched” skin areas. The areas where the mask is dark in color are the “mega oily” skin areas. As you can see, 96% of my face is an oil slick. The mask totally balances my skin and calms the fritzyness of it all!

I’m not saying you need to do this but I kind of am saying you need to do this. Your skin will feel super soft, the acne will be calmed down and your skin will have an ethereal glow.

**I was totally joking about the Tutti Frutti spoon by the way. You can mix this with your fingers if you’d like or a wooden spoon.**
