My Winter Lips Struggle: A Review

I’m over this New York Winter like Janis Ian was totally over Regina George and her monstrous behavior by the 5th scene in Mean Girls.
It’s that serious

Sometimes our body parts need a good abrasive exfoliation treatment. You can read about why I rub coffee on me, if you want.

Now, usually I would make my own lip scrub from the raw sugar packets I snatch from Starbucks on one of my daily runs. tsk tsk tsk
I make a tiny batch by mixing 2 packets of sugar with a bit of honey and a sprinkle of vitamin c powder. Then I follow up with one of my Alba lip balms. My lips are nice and smooth.
Honestly, sometimes I don’t have the motivation to make my own scrub every few days. There has to be a better way!

Tarte
I was sitting on the couch scrolling through old pics and I saw it. The lip scrub that was forgotten.
A few months ago I got the Tarte Maracuja Lip Exfoliant and it’s been sitting in a box of untouched skincare ever since. Wtf? Yeah. For the past 5 mornings I’ve been scrubbing my lips with it and then following up with my Kaplan MD Perfect Pout.
I don’t want to sound braggy, but, I’m pretty sure I just discovered the Holy Grail of lip exfoliation and hydration. You can write me fan mail about it later after you’ve tried it. Talk about smooth, defined, plump and super moisturized lips!
Castor seed oil, Peppermint oil, Sunflower oil, Maracuja oil and Shea Butter are the true stars of this exfoliating treatment.

Bite
I was in Sephora the other day and saw this little kit in the Beauty on the Fly set up at the cashwrap. They should call it the Cash Trap. I want all the little things! This kit comes in a glass medicine bottle and it contains a micro sized cherry lip scrub, it is TINY. There’s also a small tube of their famous Agave Lip Mask. You can leave the mask on for continuous moisturizing benefits.
For 3 nights I’ve been using Bite 5 Night Fix For Lips . This exfoliating treatment isn’t as abrasive as the Tarte one.
I have a weird love/hate with cherry. I feel cherry tends to smell like a cheap Bonne Belle chapstick from when I was in primary school. You remember it, the one you used to reapply 77 times a day and your lips still felt like the desert?
This isn’t overwhelming in scent though. It is like a grown up cherry scent. Think, Escada’s Cherry in the Air parfum.
The scrub contains lovely moisturizing ingredients such as Sunflower oil and Shea butter.

The star ingredients in the lip mask are Trans-Resveratrol, Blue Agave, Honeysuckle extract, Monk fruit, Jojoba oil amongst many other beneficial ingredients for your pout. I like that the agave mask stays on my lips overnight. It doesn’t migrate to other areas of my face or onto my pillows. I’m into it. I will purchase the full size products once I am done with this.

The price points aren’t too bad for these products. The Tarte Maracuja Exfoliant is $16 and Bite’s 5 Night Fix For Lips is $15. More information can be found by clicking the highlighted links provided in the blog.

Seriously, handle your dry lip situation before they crack and you’re unable to rock the hell out of your favorite lip color!
